Director
Andrew Cummings, Orchestra Director at Milton High School
is in his twelfth year as a music educator. He holds a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting from Florida State University, where he served as Assistant Conductor to the University Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras. He also led performances with the FSU Chamber Players, New Music Ensemble, and Big Bend Community Orchestra, and he was selected as a conducting fellow at the University of South Carolina’s esteemed Conductors Institute.
Formerly a military musician with Navy Band Southeast and the 572nd Air National Guard Band, Mr. Cummings has performed professionally from Alaska to Cuba, often featured as a soloist. Performance highlights include the Krewe of Bacchus parade at Mardi Gras, appearances at Fiesta San Antonio, and a featured spot on Panamanian national television’s Tu Mañana. Well-versed in musical styles ranging from classical and jazz to pop, rock, and funk, he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from FSU.
Mr. Cummings continues to perform as a freelance musician and is an active member of the Georgia Music Educators Association. He enjoys mountain biking and lives in Canton with his wife, Allison, and their sons, Martin and Walter.
